The end of season domestic showpiece, where passions are vented, drama unfolds on a field of green, enclosed by Cardiff's Millenium Stadium.
This season is a little unusual in that Chelski have proven themselves the best current team in the land by becoming League Champions. Also Liverpool have reached the Champions League Final and go head to head with Milan for European bragging rights. Up to this season, these playgrounds have been the territory of Arsenal & Man Utd, so the FA Cup represents the only silverware available for both teams. Both sides know each other's style of play intimately, and will be looking to exploit that little chink that could lead to a goal. Added spice is the recent takover by Glazer, expect a few new chants from the Arsenal section of the fans to rub the Utd fan's noses in it!
I'd love to see Ferguson walk away from this one with a big scowl on his gum chewing beetroot coloured chops, after seeing his team get beat, but then, I'm not exactly a neutral here!
Edit: Not looking good at half-time, Utd won the tactical battle, Arsenal not looking dangerous up front, 0-0 is fortunate for Arsenal. Wenger will have to change tactics as Utd have all their men behind the ball pressing when not in possession. Both teams playing 4-3-3 but in Rooney & Ronaldo, Utd are far more effective one-on-one.
Arsenal are most effective using their pace on the counter-attack, which is why Ferguson has adopted these tactics, I would withdraw Bergkamp to mid-field, where he is far more effective as the link man to feed Pires & Reyes on the wings, but who do leave up front, this is where Henry is truly missed. We need to strech Utd and use the width of the pitch, get to the by-line, put Reyes up front and introduce Van Persie on the wing, Berkamp has not the pace or the physicality to trouble the two Utd centre-backs on first-half showing.
5-4 on penalties! paul scholes CAN'T score goals, superb save by Lehman, Arsenal got through that game on guts and spirit, Utd looked the only team likely to score in regular time, the room back here exploded with sound when Viera tucked the last one away, FANTASTIC!
I saw the scowl BIG TIME! Ferguson & Utd were mugged...
